Marsha Norman is a multi-award winning screenwriter, novelist and playwright. She has written the libretto for many musicals including The Secret Garden, The Red Shoes, The Bridges of Madison County and The Color Purple. Other plays include 'night Mother, Getting Out and an adaptation of Louise Erdrich's novel The Master Butchers Singing Club. Winner of a Tony Award, and the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama (for 'night, Mother Marsha Norman is a Board member of the Writers Guild of America East Foundation.
