Budd Schulberg (1914-2009) was an American producer, screenwriter, novelist and playwright. Perhaps best known for his screenplay On the Waterfront which won an Academy Award after its release starring Marlon Brando, Schulberg was also a novelist whose novel What Makes Sammy Run, a rags-to-riches, New York-to-Hollywood story that was later adapted into a Broadway musical.
